Last week I
shared a bit of the publishing process with you. You can see why it takes so
long for a book to become a book and not simply a manuscript. The publishing
process is long and there are many steps involved in bringing that book to
market.
One thing that
has happened in recent weeks is the publishing house I signed a contract with
has recently been acquired by a larger company. My original house was
Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas and the imprint I was under is Firefly
Southern Fiction. None of that has changed. I will still be under the Firefly
Southern Fiction imprint.
Sweet Home Alabama
There is a bigger
picture here to me, personally. Iron Stream Media’s home is Birmingham,
Alabama. I went to college in Birmingham. I met my husband in Birmingham. Three
of our four sons were born and spent the early years of their lives in
Birmingham. We still have many family members there. So, to me, this was
a God thing. Almost like coming home.
We all know that
scripture tells us, In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your
paths straight. (Prov. 3:6 NASB).
I’ve been a follower of Jesus for as long as I can remember. I’ve always put my
faith and trust in Him. That is why I know, without a doubt, this was a God-incidence.
I may not know the whys and wherefores, but I firmly trust that this was the
place God intended my book/books to be. If you could see all the other pieces
of this God-directed life I’ve led, you would marvel at all the little details.
Especially since I entered the world of Christian writing.
I am speechless.
God is so good.
LPC and ISM
Two of my
favorite publishing houses filled with people involved in this process that I
have long admired and loved, all coming to pass because of my obedience to heed
the call. Trust. If you are amazed by this, you can imagine my thoughts and the
somersaults my stomach has done in the past few months. I quote again from Bob
Hostetler’s keynote address at Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers
Conference in May of 2019.
“But God.”
When we have no
clue, God is always behind the scenes working things out for our good. (Romans
8:28). He loves us that much. He is in the details, the most minute areas of
our lives. Because He loves us. I don’t know about you, but that takes my
breath away. Let me insert here, if you have never heard “Reckless Love” by
Cory Asbury, here is your chance to listen. And yes, it takes my breath away! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sc6SSHuZvQE
So, knowing that
God has my book offerings in His capable hands, I continue to work on book two
in my Charlotte Graves Mystery series, Grave Decisions. I know they are
always exactly where God wants them to be. I trust Him completely.
Is your trust in
God? If you have no clue what that feels like, contact me and let’s talk. I
promise you, it is a decision you will never regret.
